INDIA: Journalist dies after cardiac arrest

B.S. Venkatalakshmi served in government's department of information and publicity for 15 years, founded 'Charchegondu Chavadi' magazine

Bangalore --- B S Venkatalakshmi, 63, journalist and writer in Kannada and English, passed away after a cardiac arrest on Friday at her residence in Bangalore. A post-graduate in journalism from Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, she served in the government's department of information & publicity for 15 years.

After voluntary retirement, she began a monthly in Kannada, 'Charchegondu Chavadi'. She published four books and also won the state's Sahitya Academy Award for her book 'Baduku-Bhavane-Bharavase'.
