Journalists' leaders at their "Demand Day" programme yesterday demanded the government to reinstate the journalists who are sacked from Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) and Bangladesh Television (BTV).

At a rally at the National Press Club they also demanded the government to stop repression on journalists.

The government expressed commitment to build a digital Bangladesh and ensure employment. But after getting into power it is rather kicking out the people from jobs, they said.

At the rally organised by Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) and Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) the speakers urged the government to meet their four-point demand that include ending repression on journalists, reinstating the journalists into their jobs, implementing the seventh wage board award and to announce a policy for the newspaper industry.

BFUJ President Ruhul Amin Gazi presided over the rally while Secretary General M A Aziz, DUJ President Abdus Shahid, and General Secretary Baker Hossain, among others, spoke.
