INDIA: Plan to give more power to Indian Press Council
Indian Press Council president says amendments will make it more "convenient to implement the rules connected to media"

The central government is planning to amend certain laws to give more power to Indian Press Council (IPC), said IPC president and former Supreme Court Judge G N Ray.
After interacting with the journalism and mass communications students of Karnataka State Women's University (Bijapur) in New Delhi recently, he said: "After amendment, it becomes convenient to implement the rules connected to media," he said, adding journalists must not hurt the sentiments of people.
During this year, over 1,000 media-related complaints have been received, he said and added that they are being looked into.
