Bryan Wong, who hosted Sunday's Ren Ci Charity Show, will be flying with six other MediaCorp artistes to Sri Lanka on a relief mission this evening.

They are part of a 54-strong team made up of doctors, nurses, social workers, pharmacists and volunteers from the Ren Ci Hospital and Medicare Centre, which is donating $500,000 from the fund-raiser to the tsunami cause.

The team is taking medical supplies like drips and antibiotics to the town of Matara.

MediaCorp artistes Wong, Eelyn Kok, Ix Shen, Celest Chong, Xie Shaoguang, Rayson Tan and Vincent Ng, who will be there till Monday, will help administer first aid.

A team of 12 volunteers from Touch Community Services International left this morning for the town of Akkarraipattu, where more than 1,000 people are living in refugee centres.

They expect to help a Touch medical team already there to pack, carry and dispense medical supplies.

The group is led by physical education teacher Foo Yong Howe from St Gabriel's Secondary School, who said he is 'honouring a promise' made to a director of an aid agency in India last month that he would help in the event of a disaster.

Meanwhile, artistes from talent management company Fly Entertainment and MediaCorp have recorded an album, titled Hope.

Three thousand copies, costing $20 each, will be sold only at a road show at Plaza Singapura on Saturday from noon to 8pm.

The proceeds will go to the Singapore Red Cross.
