SINGAPORE: Mobile subscribers can get news from SPH
Singapore Press Holdings and weekly news magazines make receiving breaking news more convenient for mobile phone subscribers

News reports from the Singapore Press Holdings are now available on handphones with a new mobile service launched on Tuesday.
For just $3 a month, mobile phone subscribers will be able to read full versions of stories from The Straits Times, The Business Times or Lianhe Zaobao while on the move.
Those who just want a lighter read can also sign up for a selection of technology, fashion and health stories from the three weekly news magazines, Digital Life, Urban, and Mind Your Body.
Previously, these SPH Mobile News services were available only to StarHub's i-Mode subscribers.
Now, all M1, SingTel and StarHub mobile phone subscribers who have WAP phones that can get on the Internet, will be able to sign up.
Said Mr Raymond Teoh, senior manager for SPH's Internet business unit, "Offering SPH news on the mobile platform is part of our commitment to reach readers through the different platforms and channels."
Besides full access to news stories from the three newspapers, users can also sign up to access a breaking news site updated from 6.30am to midnight daily with local and foreign news straight from the newsrooms of The Straits Times, The Business Times and The New Paper.
"Through our experience with i-Mode, people are especially interested in accessing breaking news," said Mr Teoh.
To sign up for the service, mobile phone subscribers will need to send a message containing 'SPHNEWS' to 71117.
