BANGKOK - The Thai government is pursuing legal action against a webmaster in Britain for posting a Thai national flag on her pornography website, the Bangkok Post reported yesterday.
The act was an insult and tarnished the country's image, the permanent secretary in the Thai Prime Minister's office, Mr Yongyuth Sarasombat, was quoted as saying.
It violated the National Flag Act and the Criminal Act, he said. He confirmed the case had been forwarded to the Attorney-General's Office.
The webmaster could be jailed for up to a year and fined 2,000 baht (S$87) under the National Flag Law and receive up to three years in prison and a fine of 4,000 baht under the Criminal Law.
But legal experts here do not expect Britain to extradite the webmaster for a minor offence.
