KATHMANDU, Dec 15 - Image Channel Frequency Modulation K.A.T. H 97.9 is to broadcast a radio programme within two to three months outside the Kathmandu Valley from its regional F.M.stations at Bhedetar and Pokhara. This was revealed at a press meet here today.

Chairman of Image Channel Pvt. Ltd. R. K. Manandhar informed the journalists that before few weeks, Ministry of Information and Communications granted a permission to Image Channel to operate regional F. M stations. He said, "Its popularity, standard, good will and increasing demand from the public have encouraged us to apply for the license."

He said at the initial phase it will run four to five hours programmes and broadcasting area would cover as far as Rajbiraj and Jhapa in the eastern region and Pokhara in the western region. He made it clear that by remaining within the legal binding, the regional station cannot go for direct broadcasting relay, but rather involve local software as much as possible. He, however, said that local software is lacking even in Kathmandu FM stations and therefore have to broadcast non-Nepalese musical programmes.

He concluded that based on the past five years experience, Image Channel would run regional stations in local language for local audience and with local participation. The Image Channel will take these important credentials into consideration.
