KATHMANDU, Dec 19 - A group of plain-clothes security men today arrested Matrika Poudel, a journalist currently associated with Nepal-1 television from his office without warrant and released at 6:00 in the evening.

After his release, Poudel told The Kathmandu Post that he had been blindfolded until his release and was asked to show Maoist leader Ram Bahadur Thapa “Badal.” “The security personnel also interrogated me about the FM Radio run by the Maoists,” Poudel said. “They warned me at first that I would face the circumstances as faced by Krishna Sen but later they treated me well.”

A number of journalists’ organisations including Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ), Federation of Editor/Publisher, Reporters’ Club and other organisations of journalists had demanded Poudel’s immediate release.
