Chris Braithwaite publishes the Barton Chronicle, a community weekly paper in northeastern Vermont that he founded in 1974. Since 1997 he has worked extensively abroad as a trainer and consultant to newspapers in emerging democracies, most recently in Banda Aceh, Indonesia, as a Knight International Press Fellow. He has also worked with newspapers and journalists in all the countries of former Yugoslavia and in Albania, Sierra Leone, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia and Kazakhstan.
