Maldives National Disaster Management Center
Maintained by the Indian Ministry of Home Affairs, National Disaster Management is an extensive database of news and resources about tsunami reconstruction and other disaster management. The site includes detailed situation reports from South India and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. NDM also has information about local NGOs involved in rehabilitation and official government plans on the implementation of safety measures and responding to disasters.
The Ministry of Finance of Maldives
The website for the Maldives Ministry of Finance remains under construction but continues to provide reports on financial support for tsunami reconstruction on its homepage. Older reports can be found in the special section of the website that provides information about tsunami recovery and reconstruction activities.
United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Maldives
Along with offering support to the government of the Maldives in the areas of democratic governance, pro-poor policies and environmental protection, the UNDP is now actively involved in post-tsunami recovery efforts. The UNDP's Adopt-An-Island program focuses on shelter, infrastructure, livelihoods, disaster risk-management and aid co-ordination. The objective of the program is to generate public and private sector support to sustain the post-tsunami recovery effort in the country.

In Myanmar, the UNDP is delivering its assistance through a program called the Human Development Initiative (HDI) that focuses on helping poor communities to meet their basic needs, promoting collective decision-making by all segments of society and building communities capable of supporting themselves. The HDI operates in 24 townships and in six regions of the country.
Burma: Country in Crisis
Created by the Open Society Institute’s Burma Project, “Burma: Country in Crisis” seeks to provide background information on current events in Burma. The publication is designed as an educational and information resource. It provides background about important issues facing Burma today and offers a short list of resources where further information may be obtained. The online version of the publication is updated regularly.

Maldives

Dhivehi Observer
Published in the United Kingdom, the Dhivehi Observer is banned the Maldives and provides uncensored news about the country. The explicit aim of the publication is to expose the tyranny of the Gayyoom government and promote democracy in the country. Though the Dhivehi Observer is not formally affiliated with any political group or party in Maldives, some members of its editorial staff have close ties to the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).
Minivan News
Minivan News provides daily news updates from the Maldives and around the world. Its well organized website, which boasts high-quality photos and clever graphics, also features commentary on important issues affecting the Maldives and exclusive interviews with prominent political figures throughout the world.

Myanmar

The Irrawaddy
Established in 1992 by Myanmar's citizens living in exile, The Irrawaddy is a newsmagazine that covers developments in Myanmar and Southeast Asia and promotes press freedom. The magazine also provides commentary and analysis of political issues in Burma, but is not affiliated with any political party or organization in the country.
Mizzima
Established in 1998 by Myanmar journalists in exile, Mizzima is an independent, non-profit news organization committed to covering news and issues pertaining to Myanmar and promoting freedom of expression and democracy. It is affiliated with Burma Media Association and Burma News International.
