Tsunami: One Year Later » Thailand

Resources

  • Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT)
TAT's website is interesting for what it does not include; a search for "tsunami" on the homepage, clearly designed to attract tourists, turns few relevant articles. The TAT News Room, however, provides press releases about commemorative events, early warning systems and links to politicians' speeches and messages in English.
  • UN Agencies in Thailand
A list of the various agencies operating in Thailand, with contact information. The United Nations section also has a special page of photos and articles about Thailand.
  • United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Thailand
A more local look at UN activities in Thailand, this UNDP site contains interesting reports about less-covered subjects such as coral reef clean-up (PDF). They also supply a 122-page one-year-later report (PDF).
  • Amandaman Forum
The Andaman Forum is a consortium of NGOs and government agencies to maintain information on tsunami relief in the southern provinces of Thailand. News can be browsed by region or date. The site appears to be a way for organizations to communicate with each other, though the contact database and notice board are both empty. The strength of the site is that each province and city section list specific needs and damages.
